Our Process

At the University of New Haven we use an inclusive and collaborative design process to develop state of the art, top end academic online courses.

  1. We first set up a time to meet between the instructional designer (ID) and the subject matter expert (SME). During that meeting, parameters are discussed including timeframe of the project, goals of the development, brainstorming of ideas for content and assessments, and a schedule for meeting and project management. During this meeting the ID will go over the development documents and send them after the meeting concludes.
  2. Secondly, the instructional designer will take the information from the first meeting, create a schedule and set up subsequent meetings and milestones.
  3. The development of an online course can take anywhere from 8-12 weeks or more depending on how much content there is to develop and if there are any interactive or video assets that need to be developed.
  4. Once the course is developed, the ID will do a run through with the SME as both instructor and student.  At that point any revisions will be made and the ID will sign off on the development.
